Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Teknologi dan Informatika is committed to upholding academic integrity and ensuring that every published article represents original scholarly work. Therefore, all submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening and text similarity checking (similarity check) before entering the peer review stage or during the editorial process, in accordance with the journal's policies.
Screening is conducted using appropriate similarity detection software to identify textual similarities between submitted manuscripts and previously available scholarly works or other sources.
Screening Procedures
-
Every manuscript that meets the editor's initial screening requirements will undergo a similarity check.
-
Screening covers textual similarities with journal articles, conference proceedings, books, repositories, websites, and other scholarly sources available in the screening database.
-
The results of the similarity check serve as an editorial aid and are not the sole basis for determining whether a manuscript contains plagiarism.
-
Editors evaluate passages exhibiting similarities by considering the context of use, quotations, references, technical terminology, research methods, and cited sources.
-
Manuscripts showing a high similarity level or indications of plagiarism may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected.
-
If serious indications of plagiarism are identified, editors may conduct further investigations and request clarification from the authors.
-
Articles found to contain plagiarism after publication may be subject to editorial action, including correction, article retraction, or other measures appropriate to the severity of the violation.
Similarity Threshold
As an initial guideline, Jurnal Teknologi dan Informatika sets a maximum manuscript similarity threshold of 20%, excluding the reference list and sections excluded by the screening system.
Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will undergo further editorial examination. A similarity score below the established threshold does not automatically guarantee that a manuscript is free from plagiarism. Conversely, a higher similarity score does not necessarily indicate plagiarism. The final decision is based on the editor's assessment of the substance and context of the identified similarities.
Self-Plagiarism
Authors must also avoid self-plagiarism, which refers to the reuse of substantive content, text, data, images, or research findings from their own previously published works without appropriate acknowledgment or citation.
Any reuse of material from previous research or publications must be conducted transparently and in accordance with publication ethics principles.
Authors' Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
-
The manuscript constitutes original scholarly work.
-
All sources used are properly cited and referenced.
-
Direct quotations are appropriately attributed.
-
Data, images, tables, and materials belonging to third parties are used with permission where required.
-
No duplicate publication has occurred.
-
No sources are manipulated or concealed to evade plagiarism screening.
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Teknologi dan Informatika, authors confirm that the submitted article complies with the principles of academic integrity and does not contain plagiarism or other forms of publication ethics violations.
